logo-1The Food Pantry of Green Coven Springs has been awarded a $6000 grant from Newman's Own Foundation , the independent foundation created by the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman.  The award was made by Newman's Own Foundation as part of its commitment to address issues of fresh food and nutrition education.

Paul Newman believed that each of us has the ability to make a difference in the world. Since the start of Newman's Own in 1982 with his personal salad dressing, which he bottled and sold, Newman gave away 100% of the profit to charity. To date, more than $470 million has been donated to charitable organizations all over the world.

The grant to the Pantry will be used to purchase food for Clay County residents facing food shortages. Because the Pantry has no paid employees, 100% of the grant will be used for direct assistance to the families.
